Centrale Lille and the Lille Fluid Mechanics Laboratory (LMFL) welcome Professor James Brasseur from 20 June to 4 July 2022 and Professor Joachim Peinke from 20 June to 15 July.
Both will participate in the Lille Turbulence Programme 2022 (20 June -15 July 2022).
James Brasseur is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado, in Boulder, after 27 years as a Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Biomedical Mechanics and Mathematics at Pennsylvania State University. He has served on the boards of the American Physical Society (APS), the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics and two medical societies. He is a former president of the Dysphagia Research Society and founding president of the APS thematic group on climate physics. He is a Fellow of the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars and the American Physical Society.
Joachim Peinke is Professor of Applied Physics at Carl-von-Ossietzky University, in Oldenburg. He is editor-in-chief of Wind Energy Science – the interactive open-access journal of the European Academy of Wind Energy. In 2016, he received the Chair of Excellence at the Nanosciences – Energies of the Future Alliance Laboratory (LANEF) (in conjunction with the Joseph Fourier University, CNRS, CEA and INP). Professor Peinke chairs the Board of Directors of ForWind, the Wind Energy Research Centre of the Universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen.
Professors Brasseur and Peinke will take part in teaching for the G3 Materials and Sustainable Construction course at École Centrale de Lille on turbulence in the atmosphere, and wind, respectively. Other teaching activities and exchanges with students are also envisaged.
