From 4-30 June, 2022, Centrale Lille and IEMN are pleased to welcome Dr Rachid Sbiaa, Professor in the Department of Physics at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.
Co-author of more than 120 publications in journals with top-notch reading committees or international conference proceedings, Professor Sbiaa heads a spintronic research group that conducts research on the interaction between electron spin and magnetic moments. This research concerns applications on magnetic memories and the implementation of neuro-inspired computing architectures.
The visit of Professor Sbiaa, initiated by the members of the IEMN AIMAN-FILMS group, is part of a collaboration in the field of surface acoustic waves and their effect on the movement of magnetic domain walls.
The objectives of this visit are to manufacture hybrid devices with surface acoustic waves coupled to magnetic layers, and to characterise the movement of magnetic domains induced by wave propagation in the layers.
Professor Sbiaa benefits from more than 10 years of teaching experience. In particular, he delivers lectures and carries out practical work in electromagnetism, condensed matter physics, and an elective course on nanotechnologies and their applications.
Professor Sbiaa will take part in the lessons of the solid physics module of the École Centrale de Lille on magnetism and spintronics. Other teaching activities and exchanges with students are also envisaged.
Want to talk to Professor Sbiaa? By all means contact the research department.
