Faced with environmental challenges, the Écoles Centrale have already taken numerous initiatives in the field of training and research. United around a common vision, and in order to contribute to the ecological transition of organisations at the highest level, they have been speeding up the change of the Centrale engineering curriculum since the start of the 2021 academic year.
An ambitious roadmap has been laid out with the representatives of the GITE group – Groupe InterCentrale pour la Transition Écologique -, following a process of co-construction:
- To include training activities on socio-environmental issues in the fundamentals of the Centrale engineering curriculum,
- To offer a list of electives in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals,
- To introduce mandatory lectures on sustainable development and social responsibility issues into the curriculum,
- To validate projects within the curriculum according to the UN Sustainable Development Goals,
- To add value to the civic or associative commitment in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (through certificates, EU, ECTS credits, etc.),
- To co-sign the biodiversity charter on campus.
Through this joint initiative, the Écoles Centrale confirm their commitment to building a relationship of trust with their students to meet the challenges of the energy and ecological transition.
