The first evacuation exercise of the academic year was organised on our two campuses in September. For information, the evacuation time recorded, which corresponds to the last arrival at the assembly points, was:
- 6 min 38 : buildings A, B, E, F
- 2 min 51 : building B7
- 4 min 40 : buildings C7a and C7b
- 0 min 50 : building D
- 3 min 26 : building IG
- 2 min 32 : buildings I and J
- 1 min 24 : building G (Foundry)
- 3 min 44 : building K
- 2 min 17 : building M6
As a reminder, the evacuation must be completed in less than 5 minutes.
The exercise identified a number of malfunctions:
- Malfunctioning fire safety devices (glass breakage);
- During the evacuation route: return to the building;
- Assembly points are located on car parks or lawns; it is important to gather at the base of the sign so as not to hinder possible emergency vehicle traffic.
The prevention adviser thanked all those involved in the organisation of the exercise and particularly the evacuation officers.
In order to increase the number of evacuation officers, Christine Rodzinka called for applications from volunteers. Please do not hesitate to contact her directly. The training to become an evacuation officer lasts half a day and is paid for by the school.
The regulations call for two exercises per year: the first one is announced, and a second one will take place unexpectedly during the year.
An evacuation exercise will soon be organised in D, K and M6 buildings.
