Each year, Centrale Lille seeks nearly 300 temporary employees to take part in the educational activities of its internal schools and training programmes. The process of managing non-permanent employees, from administrative recruitment to payroll, requires the coordinated involvement of several of the institution’s stakeholders and departments: education managers, education departments, human resources division, IT resources division, training support, the accounting agency, Teaching and Research Assistants (AERs), etc.
Based on a set, shared method of operation (teaching memo, temporary staff guide, procedure), this cross-functional collaboration has allowed us to increase the reliability of commitments related to recruitment times and payroll. At the end of May 2023, 97% of non-permanent staff recruited for the 2022-23 academic year, and who responded to the satisfaction survey, confirmed that they were satisfied with their administrative recruitment experience.
To sustain this performance for the 2023-24 year, here are some good practices to follow:
- To avoid unnecessary processing of applications (around twenty applications not completed by the temporary employees and not included in this year’s scheduling tools), before any request for new applications, we must ensure that the candidate has read the Temporary Staff Guide available on the Centrale Lille website and, in particular, the documents required to prepare the administrative file;
- The request for the temporary staff file is made by the education manager, who sends an email to the school concerned; this remains the only way to initiate administrative recruitment.
The “Web Vacataires” temporary staff platform for electronic case management will be available for the launch of the 2023-24 temporary staff recruitment campaign, from 19 June 2023.
