Centrale Lille is continuing to deploy actions relating to the fight against gender and sexual violence based on Prevent & Act.
Prevent & Act
- A poster campaign, starting this week, tackles “preconceptions” and the trivialisation of gender and sexual violence that falls within the scope of criminal sanctions. This campaign also provides information on existing support schemes open to the entire Centrale Lille community and to both victims and witnesses of sexist and sexual violence.
- Awareness-raising workshops will also be organised in the coming weeks, for students and staff. The aim is to identify gender-based and sexual violence and its effects.
- Defending yourself in the best possible way against any kind of aggression can make a difference. That is why Centrale Lille has chosen to offer Krav Maga self-defence sessions to its staff and students. The purpose of Krav Maga is to gain in self-confidence and be able to react to everyday aggressions.
Prevent & Act
Witnesses or victims, speak out!
In 2021, Centrale Lille set up a system allowing victims and witnesses to report any act of gender-based and sexual violence.
This reporting system is based on:
- Two people who provide initial contact with the person making the referral and who manage the reporting system,
- A listening unit to hear the alleged victim, ensure that the facts reported fall within the system’s scope, guide the alleged victim towards appropriate support and draw up a report recommending the necessary follow-up. It is composed of:
- An agent from the HR department/an agent from the student life department, depending on the status of the alleged victim,
- 2 to 3 members of the CHSCT health & safety committee,
- Persons such as the legal affairs officer, the prevention adviser, etc.
The experience of engineering schools faced with this kind of violence has led Centrale Lille to upgrade its system to provide staff and students with an outsourced listening and support service managed by France Victimes. This confidential service is provided by professional teams external to Centrale Lille, who qualify the facts and offer legal, psychological and social support.
Accordingly, victims or witnesses have two possibilities for making a report.
