The selection campaign will open on Monday 6 September 2021 at noon, Paris time.
One hundred and sixty-four IUF positions will be open for competition. For each category (Junior, Senior) 82 chairs will be open, including 70 fundamental chairs, 10 innovation chairs* and 2 science mediation chairs**.
The appointed members will receive financial means to develop their research activity and a reduction of two thirds of the teaching service.
Complete applications and letters of recommendation must be submitted on the IUF submission site before 29 October at noon, Paris time, for all candidates (Juniors and Seniors).

* Innovation: project aiming at transferring and valorising research work to companies (existing or created on this occasion), communities, associations, public, and which allows to favour a real innovation through an application of research. The work concerned may be methodological and/or technological, breakthrough or incremental. The projects identified will be likely to have measurable positive effects on the economy, society, culture, public policies, or services of public interest.
** Scientific mediation: projects aiming to develop relations between higher education and research institutions and society, with a view to enlightening citizens and the public debate on major societal issues according to a scientific culture and approach. The projects identified may involve recognised partners (centres for scientific, technical, and industrial culture, science centres, museums, media, associations, etc.) and create participatory research approaches with citizens and/or public decision-makers.
