As announced in the Point Com of 2 May, Centrale Lille is set to host a new UP’CAT (Upscaling of Catalysts – Manufacture and Application) technological platform.

Backed by the Region and Europe, this platform will develop fundamental research in partnership with local or national companies for the study of the chemistry of materials and, in particular, the preparation of supports and catalysts for heterogeneous catalysis.

Work on the construction of the UP’CAT platform (representing €1.3 million, financed by Centrale Lille) will begin on 19 September for a planned duration of 7 months, and will mainly consist in:

  • transforming a large part of the third floor of building C (situated between the two stairways on the side of building A) into a chemistry laboratory (bench facilities, fume cupboards, gas distribution, etc.);
  • developing storage rooms next to the gas distribution room located between buildings C and F;
  • renovating the entire roof of building C;
  • ensuring the compliance of the smoke extraction system in the 3 stairways of building C.

During the period of works, and as of 19 September:

  • a construction site area will be installed in the visitors’ car park alongside building C and at the gable end of building C next to building A (see plan);
  • the stairway in building C on the gable side of building A will be reserved for the site and prohibited to the public;
  • the public toilets on the ground floor of building C will be closed;
  • fences will be installed, depending on the progress of the works, around the outdoor intervention areas, in particular for the construction of storage rooms.

For your safety, you are asked to respect the temporary markings that will be put in place for the duration of the works.

The overall operation will be overseen by the MLP department, which remains available for any additional information at .
