As announced in the September 9 issue of Point Com, Frédérique Pourpoint, a teacher-researcher at ENSCL Centrale Lille, has been appointed to the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). She has since been officially installed as a member of the 33rd class of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). The ceremony was held on Friday 18 October 2024 in the Sorbonne’s prestigious Grand Amphithéâtre, attended by more than 500 guests who came to celebrate the 200 junior and senior laureates in the class.
“The ceremony was magnificent,’ says Frédérique. The programme included captivating talks on a variety of themes, from advances in data science to literary reflections, given by former IUF laureates. These speakers captivated an eclectic audience, using their expertise to make each topic accessible and engaging.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of a theatrical extract dedicated to the physicist Lise Meitner, an exceptional scientific figure who was unfairly excluded from the Nobel Prize. I was particularly moved by the way her life and work were highlighted, reminding us of the importance of celebrating the pioneers of science.”
Congratulations once again to Frédérique Pourpoint on this wonderful accolade.
