The France-Berkeley Fund (FBF) is pleased to announce its call for 2025 projects. The Fund invites applications for seed funding of up to $15,000 to support new collaborations between faculty and researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, and their counterparts in France.

The main mission of the FBF is to promote innovative research, both basic and applied, in all fields. The program accepts monodisciplinary or interdisciplinary proposals addressing research topics in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), arts and humanities, social sciences, law, economics, education, and public health.

Priority criteria :

Projects promoting balanced exchange and complementary expertise between teams
Projects involving early-career researchers
Projects developing new research approaches and strategies
Projects with the potential to create long-term partnerships

Eligibility:
FBF grants are open to all tenure-track faculty and researchers with Scientific Officer status at the University of California, Berkeley and/or Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Proposals must be submitted jointly with a colleague holding a permanent position at a university or research center in France.

Duration:
Grants will be awarded on July 1, 2025, and funded projects must be completed within 24 months (by July 1, 2027).

Application deadline:
Applications must be submitted by midnight Pacific time on January 31, 2025.
