On Saturday 15 October 2022, a conference entitled “Le long chemin de la Paix” (The long road to Peace) will take place at the Nouveau Siècle auditorium in Lille, in the presence of two Nobel Peace Prize winners:

  • Dr Denis Mukwege – 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate

Nicknamed “The man who repairs women”, he has received numerous awards for his commitment against female genital mutilation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including the Shakharov Prize in 2014.

  • Ouided Bouchamaoui – 2015 Nobel Peace Prize laureate

Representative of the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, she won the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize for her mission, which led to the holding of presidential and legislative elections, as well as the ratification of the new Tunisian constitution.

This conference is organised by the Hauts de France, Belgium and Luxembourg Districts of the Rotary International, and will address two major themes: “The Strength of Women” and “Peacebuilding with the Rotary, Civil Society and International Institutions”.
