The second educational half-day (“demi-journée pédagogique” – DJP) of the academic year, for all teachers, was held on Tuesday 14 March 2023, focusing on the educational escape game concept, i.e. in line with the year’s underlying theme on teaching methods and serious gaming.
After experiencing an escape game to discover its basic concepts, the challenge for teachers was to create an escape game on the theme of educational alignment.
Upon completion of the activity using this game, the participants/players had to be able to:
- List and describe the elements that comprise educational alignment
- Produce a model of educational alignment based on these elements
- Imagine an example of misalignment, and an example of good alignment
Working in groups, the teachers first went through a pedagogical engineering and game design model used to define, imagine, create and evaluate the pedagogical escape game. These steps lead to the design of a serious game scenario, its puzzles, etc., in line with the targeted learning objectives.
This method is all about learning by doing. Members of the educational and digital support centre (PAPN) supported the learners during these steps. You can find all the resources used for the DJP in your TICE & Pédagogie (Information and Communication Technologies for Education & Teaching) space.
