Louis Ziller, a 2nd year engineering student at École Centrale de Lille, was selected to take part in the Student Scientific Convention (SSC) on Hydrogen. The event was organised by the Young Promotions Committee of the Société des Ingénieurs et Scientifiques de France (IESF).
Louis is one of 50 student engineers and scientists chosen by lottery to ensure a diverse and fair presentation on the theme of : ‘Hydrogen and its place in our society’.
Over 4 weekends, Louis had the opportunity to meet experts from a wide range of backgrounds, from innovative companies to committed associations, to explore the different facets of hydrogen technologies and their implications. The mission, as ambitious as it was crucial, was to draw up a strategic report for the ministries responsible for the ecological transition and higher education.
At the closing ceremony of the convention, held on 16 April at the Bercy Conference Centre, Louis and his peers from all over France had the honour of presenting the report to the French Minister for Industry and Energy, Roland Lescure. Their message underlined the importance of considering hydrogen as a relevant technology:
‘We, the young student scientists of the Student Scientific Convention on Hydrogen, consider that hydrogen should not be considered as a miracle solution, but as a relevant technology that needs to be developed for priority uses, provided that it respects the objectives of sustainable development and sobriety’.
Centrale Lille continues to support and encourage its students in their desire to make a positive contribution to society and to the future of our planet.
