Every day, multiple cyber-attacks are observed around the world, often the result of a targeted, and well-developed spam campaign.

Phishing is a technique used by fraudsters to obtain personal information by impersonating a company, financial institution or administration.

How can we protect ourselves?

  • Be vigilant about the information you provide.
  • Emails constituting phishing attempts are very generally anonymous (“Dear Customer”, “Dear Sir/Madam”, etc.).
  • Be wary of messages (e-mail, SMS, chat, etc.) or telephone calls of unknown or unexpected origin.
  • Centrale Lille will never ask you for your login/password. Generally speaking, all State bodies (CAF, Trésor Public, etc.), banks, telephone companies, etc. adhere to the same logic.
  • Do not click on links in emails: the links displayed in emails may, in reality, direct users to fraudulent sites.
  • Be wary when an e-mail requests urgent action: do not rush and always take time to think.
  • Never reply or forward these emails.
  • Pay attention to fake orders, fake invoices or changes to fraudulent bank transfers.
  • Only download your applications from publishers’ official sites or stores: otherwise, you risk installing an infected application.
  • Generally speaking, be vigilant and use common sense: do not believe that what comes from the Internet is necessarily true.
  • Do not lower your guard; on the contrary, raise it!

Basic actions to remain protected:

  • Make regular backups of your data and keep a disconnected copy (USB device, external disk, external cloud, etc.).
  • Install security updates on your connected devices (computers, phones, etc.) as soon as they are available.
