Every year, École Centrale de Lille welcomes international students on a non-degree exchange during the spring semester (S8).

In order to keep pace with recent developments in incoming mobility for international English-speaking students at Bachelor 4 or M1 level, in the spring of 2023 École Centrale de Lille introduced a new scheme for half-year mobility (Semester by Research), enabling students to spend a period of time divided equally between

  • courses (3 disciplinary courses + French Foreign Language courses, i.e. 15 ECTS credits)

and

  • laboratory research (research project with 15 ECTS credits).

The laboratory research part consists of a long project, supervised by a Centrale Lille research professor, spread over the whole semester for a total duration of 300 hours (i.e. the equivalent of 3 “Research Immersion” courses).

The advantage of this scheme is that it allows international students to plan ahead over a longer period of time and with more ambitious objectives than a simple “Research Immersion” course.

If you would like to propose a long research project topic for the international students who will be joining us in February 2024, please fill in the project form and post it to the NextCloud folder.

Research project proposals must be submitted by supervisors before 6 November.
