The Kickoff of the European project Marie Skłodowska-Curie “Doctoral Network” CanDoIt, for which Centrale Lille is the coordinating institution, will take place on January 23, 2024. This project is jointly coordinated by Profs Abdelkrim Talbi and Philippe Pernod from Centrale Lille, doing their research within IEMN 8520.

Project Description:

Project Description: The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer face persistent challenges, with current methods often lacking the necessary precision and user-friendliness for optimal patient care. Existing techniques may lead to misdiagnosis, delayed intervention, or non-adapted treatment. With the support of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions-Doctoral Network (MSCA-DN) excellence program, the CanDoIt project aims to integrate a groundbreaking technology consisting of a network of multimodal and multiphysical biosensors combined with advanced nanobiomaterials for functionalization, along with a microfluidic system providing unique features for the sampling and manipulation of biofluids.

The MSCA-DN CanDoIt project brings together 18 multidisciplinary teams (academic and industrial) with broad expertise covering physics, micro-nanotechnologies, biology, chemistry, AI, and machine learning, as well as preclinical and clinical trials. CanDoIt aspires to develop breast cancer diagnostic technologies and will establish a high-impact structure for widespread dissemination. It aims to train 12 doctoral candidates who will constitute the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers at the intersection of medicine and engineering.

The overall goal of the project is to make a significant contribution to research on the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, thus ushering in a new era of precision and efficiency in diagnostics and therapeutic monitoring.
