In France, car travel accounts for the largest part of France’s carbon footprint (20% of the total) (2019 data – source Carbone 4/Ministry for Ecological Transition).  In 2022, the Hauts de France region experienced 23 pollution alert days.  In the Lille Metropolitan Area, on average in 2022, motorists spent 125 hours, or 5 days, in traffic jams (source: Index Traffic TOM TOM).

Against this backdrop, Centrale Lille has signed up to take part in the Hauts de France 2023 Mobility Challenge, from 18 to 23 September 2023.

The aim of this challenge is to promote alternative means of transport to the private car: walking, cycling, public transport, car-sharing, teleworking, etc., for the working population on their journeys to and from work. For more information, click here.

Every day for one week, dare to change your habits by registering with Centrale Lille! (The code to enter is CE-GASDUG)

Come to Centrale Lille by some other means:

By bike: there are more and more cycle paths (Map of cycle paths in Lille). Staff can also take a shower in building B (ask Jonathan Ducoulombier for the key). Centrale Lille has 6 bicycles that can be borrowed at reception.

By public transport: find out about the different routes available on Ilevia and SNCF.

Carpooling: a number of apps are available for organising carpooling journeys, such as BlaBlaCar Daily, Karos or Klaxit.

Various forms of assistance are available:

  • Contribution towards public transport costs: from September 2023, this contribution will increase from 50% to 75%, up to a maximum of €96.36 per month. The link to the refund form can be found by clicking here.
  • Sustainable mobility package: for people travelling by bike, scooter or carpool. A form is available here.
