Launched seven years ago by the American foundation “Centrales – US Education Fund” and the École Centrale de Lyon, the Start-up Challenge is a competition for students with entrepreneurial projects.

This year, three projects from Centrale Lille are in the running to participate in the final: Protomia, Astora and Pogui Surf.

  • Protomia, a project led by Andres Arteaga, a student studying for a master’s in biomedical engineering. Protomia aims to develop realistic, patient-specific prostheses using photos, AI-based algorithms and 3D printing techniques.
  • Astora, a project led by Erwan Colombel and Théo Lecourte, second-year students at École Centrale de Lille. Astora is a knowledge management solution intended to revolutionise the traditional document-centric approach by breaking down documents into key items of information.
  • Pogui Surf, a project led by Paul Metailler, a fifth-year student at ITEEM. Pogui Surf is the first surfboard for beginners. Paul’s ambition is to rethink the manufacturing process of these softboards so that they can be produced locally, with an average lifespan of 10 years.
