Nicolas Decottegnie, engineering student in his fifth year at ITEEM, and following the “Entrepreneur-Innovator” profile, recently created his company: Bacao, la balconnière hydroponique (the hydroponic window box).
After a 9-month internship in Cambodia, where hydroponics is widespread and used to grow vegetables, the idea of applying this technique in France came from a friend: “He explained to me how he grew his own vegetables and herbs, without maintenance, without watering, only with a tray, some water and seeds.”
Nicolas has received backing from Centrale Lille through the support fund for development and innovation, and also that of the European Metropolis of Lille, the Hauts-de-France Region, Euratechnologies and Pépite.
Pre-sales of the first “balconnières” are now open; go here to find out more and contribute to the development of Bacao.
