Faced with the explosion in energy costs, and in order to participate in the now essential energy transition, the French President and the government have mobilised all the State’s services and operators. For this purpose, Centrale Lille has already taken measures to reduce energy expenditure while maintaining its training and research activities under proper working conditions for its users and staff.
These first general measures notably involve the following:
- Programming of the heating temperature to 19°C in tertiary premises when occupied, 16°C when vacant, and 7°C during periods of closure;
- Programming of the heating temperature to 17°C in workshops when occupied, 15°C when vacant, and 7°C during periods of closure;
- Reduction of the heating time by 2 hours during the day (from 11 hours of heating to 9 hours) with an earlier end-of-day lowering (4 pm instead of 6 pm);
- Ban on the use of mobile electric heating devices;
- Reduced use of hot water in toilets;
- Optimisation of all lighting clocks in order to limit lighting periods in the morning/evening (end-of-day at 9 pm instead of 6 pm, and start-of-day at 6 am instead of 5:30 am).
These initial measures will then be supplemented by other initiatives. They will integrate the multi-year action plan established by the thematic work groups, which will form the basis of the actions for implementing Centrale Lille’s sustainable development and CSR policy.
