A number of teachers-researchers are appointed to the IUF each year in consideration of the quality of their scientific work and their research projects. Accordingly, they are granted additional resources to develop their research activity.
The Institut Universitaire de France includes junior members and senior members. They are appointed to the IUF for a period of five years and are accordingly placed in a position of delegation. They continue to carry out their activities in their home institution, benefiting from a two-thirds reduction in their teaching service, as well as specific research funding.
It should be noted that the three essential missions of the IUF are to:
- encourage institutions and teachers-researchers to achieve excellence in research, innovation and mediation, with the positive consequences that can be expected in terms of teaching and training young researchers and, more generally, disseminating and transferring knowledge in society at large;
- increase the number of women working in the field of research;
- contribute to a balanced distribution of academic research throughout France and, accordingly, to a policy of scientific networking.
For the IUF 2023 selection, the application for IUF applications is opened on 5 September 2022 and will close on 7 November 2022, at midnight, Paris time.
