As part of the ecological transition, the French government had already implemented a number of initiatives and financial support packages. Some have been extended up until 31 December 2022.
In addition, the government allows you to benefit from an ecological bonus for the purchase of mechanical and/or electric bikes. Other measures exist locally for the purchase of electric bikes and for the repair or maintenance of equipment, depending on where you reside (you must consult the sites of your municipality’s Region or Department).
State bonuses available:
- €150 for the purchase of a classic bike;
- €400 for the purchase of a brand new electrically-assisted bike (this may or may not be combined with local support packages);
- €2,000 for a folding cargo bike suitable for people with disabilities.
It should be noted that the conversion bonus has been increased to €3,000 for the purchase of a new or used electric bike in exchange for the scrapping of a polluting vehicle. An additional bonus of €1,000 may be granted (low emission zone) subject to having benefited from local support for the same bike.
These grants are applicable from 15 August to 31 December 2022.
