Having a high-performance computer base is essential for our institution. The management of this base serves to maintain our equipment and anticipate any failures. For this purpose, all equipment must be inventoried. This will allow us to take stock of the actual use of our equipment or our licences.
Accordingly, the IT Resources Division (PRI) will install FusionInventory on your computers to allow inventory information to be reported or to automatically install applications such as the new WithSecure antivirus software solution. Reminder: it is strictly forbidden to uninstall any software installed by the PRI that could endanger the security of our information system.
In order to facilitate the management of all computer assets, the PRI will gradually migrate computers to an Active Directory domain. An Active Directory makes it easier to manage users and computers, deploy software remotely, keep machines up to date, better manage file sharing, encrypt hard drives, centralise recovery keys, and so on.
The Active Directory will also significantly increase the security of our information system.
All new Windows computers will now be pre-configured with the Active Directory. Meanwhile, the PRI will make an appointment with you to migrate existing computers. Note that under no circumstances should you rename computers or remove them from their domain.
