The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and risks worldwide.

For this occasion, Centrale Lille is organising its own Safety & Health at Work day, and will focus on road risks. 3 types of workshops are open to all the institution’s staff on Thursday 28 April 2022:

  • Life-saving training (2 hours) – Register here
    3 sessions: 08:30-10:30 / 10:30-12:30 / 14:30-16:00
  • Highway code upgrade (1 hour) – Register here
    3 sessions: 08:30-09:30 / 11:30-12:30 / 14:00-15:00
  • Prevention of risks on two wheels (1 hour 15 minutes) – Register here
    2 sessions: 10:00-11:15 / 15:15-16:30

The life-saving training is part of the national agenda to train 80% of the population in first aid, thereby limiting everyday accidents, and the consequences of any terrorist attack or crisis caused by climate change. These consequences are currently believed to represent 20,000 deaths and 50,000 hospitalisations each year.

This 2-hour session is intended for all people who have never taken first aid training. It will teach participants how to:

  • Ensure their own safety and that of others, and provide the emergency rescue services with the information required for their subsequent intervention;
  • React to external bleeding and place the victim in an appropriate waiting position;
  • Care for a victim who has suffered a cardiac arrest and use an external automated defibrillator.

The highway code is constantly changing and it is not always easy to keep up with the new rules. This session, lasting approximately one hour, will allow you to update your knowledge of the highway code interactively (using connected answering devices) by dealing with signs, priorities, roundabouts, highway traffic, etc.

The workshop for preventing risks on 2 wheels makes all users aware of their vulnerability and the importance of wearing protective equipment and visibility elements. Through practical exercises, participants will improve their awareness of blind spot zones according to different types of vehicles, before discussing the best practices to adopt on a bicycle or scooter.
